Emergency Food Resources in Warwick
The Republican Congress has failed all Americans and led our country into the longest government shutdown in history. They blame the Democrats, who are fighting to protect affordable health care for millions of Americans. As punishment, the Trump Administration has refused to spend money set aside to fund the SNAP program (AKA “food stamps” or “EBT”), on which more than 1 in 10 Americans rely for food assistance.
America is the richest country on Earth. No American should have to choose between health care and food. As Democrats fight for affordability, we now face a situation where our neighbors might be struggling to put food on the table. The problem is made worse because most federal employees are not receiving paychecks, even if they are still working.
Officials and volunteers with the Town of Warwick (including members of the Warwick Democrats) have come together to coordinate efforts between area food banks and maximize the help we can provide our neighbors. Credit and thanks are due to Town Supervisor Jesse Dwyer for his rapid and effective leadership convening the emergency committee.
UPDATE as of 11/12/25: Courts have repeatedly ruled that Donald Trump must release SNAP funding, but to date no funding has been released. With reports that the government shutdown could end as soon as this week, SNAP funds should be restored, but it is unclear how long the process will take. In the meantime, our neighbors need food.

Locate a blessing box
Blessing boxes are small, unattended pantries around our community where you can leave non-perishable food items for people in need. We believe they are especially important right now, as the threat of being kidnapped by ICE scares some people away from accessing other pantries.
If you know of a blessing box that is not listed here, please let us know the exact location!
